Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is rooted in anatomy and movement science.
  Physiotherapists see movement as medicine.

“movement as medicine”

We are primary care practitioners, which means we are able to assess your condition, provide a diagnosis and determine a treatment plan specific to your needs.

We are trained to assess how you move, how your joints move, how your muscles are engaging, how your nerves are functioning, and how these variables affect what you are feeling and what you would like to achieve.

Physiotherapy begins with a detailed assessment, including your health history, current symptoms and a relevant physical assessment.  Then we determine the best course of action for your issue and goals.

Treatment is tailored to you, and may consist of hands-on (manual) therapy, dry needling or acupuncture, an exercise program or movement recommendations, and education regarding your area of concern.

 Manual Therapy

I am a CAMPT-Certified physiotherapist (Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy).  This means I have completed extensive post-graduate education and have attained internationally recognized qualifications in hands-on manipulative therapy.  Only a small group of physiotherapists in Canada have this specialized training.

Manual therapy consists of a variety of hands-on assessment and treatment techniques, based on current research, to get you better faster and reduce the chance of your symptoms returning.

A typical manual therapy session can consist of a combination of:

  • soft tissue work to release muscle tension and improve flexibility

  • joint mobilizations or joint manipulations to loosen stiff areas

  • mobilization of the neural tissue to decrease tension and nerve symptoms

  • education regarding your specific pathology
